80’s Month: ABC

Lexicon of Love was ABC’s most heralded record, but I’m a bigger fan of their third record, How to be a Millionaire.  I would probably rate it my favorite synth pop record of the 80’s.  While it sounds a little dated now, I still enjoy the Scritti Politti-like riffs, with Bryan Ferry-type vocals over it.

The bands last hit was When Smokey Sings and it is one of the best pop singles of the decade.

Here is a great James Brown/funky drummer type mix of the Look of Love.
