There are a lot of great male singer-songwriter types who don’t get the play that John Mayer does, despite their ability to write better songs. Greg Laswell is a good place to start. His weary voice combines with atmospheric tones in his music which makes for a sensuous blend. Don’t blame him that nearly every TV show wants to use his music for montage material. There is no place for music like this on the radio, so he has to find a way to be heard. Songs like the dream-like Come Undone, the romantic And Then You, the pretty Comes and Goes (in Waves), and one of many covers for which I’ve included his take on Girls Want to Have Fun.
